Game of Drones: Is this our legacy?

Drones are changing the reality of warfare. Since 2001, the US has led a worldwide war against terrorism. Armed drones have repeatedly demonstrated their effectiveness, and under president Barack Obama the use of drones has expanded greatly.

Nevertheless, the use of drones has also raised questions of transparency, discrimination and proportionality.

Drones do not only create physical distance, but also a moral distance. Whistleblowing is one of the most direct methods of shining lights on these issues.

We are proud to welcome American whistleblowers Lisa Ling and Cian Westmoreland to the Peace House this evening.

We will also screen the acclaimed documentary “National Bird”, that follows the dramatic journey of three whistleblowers who are determined to break the silence around the secret US drone war.
The event supports the global mobilization to get #SnowdentoOslo to receive Norwegian PEN’s Ossietzky Prize for outstanding efforts for freedom of expression.
