The Nobel Institute

The Norwegian Nobel Institute

The Norwegian Nobel Institute was established in 1904.

Its' main duty is to assist the Nobel Comittee in the process of deciding the winner of the Peace Prize. The institute has a research department and a huge library which is also open to the public.

The institute arranges meetings, seminars and lectures in addition to holding so-called Nobel Symposia, where invited specialists from all over the world meet to discuss and exchange information concerning peace issues.

The director of the Nobel Institute also works as the secretary of the Nobel Comittee.
