The Nobel Peace Prize is presented by the Norwegian Nobel Comittee.
The Nobel Comittee consists of five members appointed by Stortinget (the Norwegian parliament). The comittees composition shall reflect the relative strenght of the political parties in the parliament. The comittee elects its own chairman and deputy chairman.
The Nobel Comittee shall be entirely independent in its work. The discussions about the candidates are kept secretl and the members avoid to participate in the public debate after the name of the winner is announced.
