Oslo, the capital of Norway was founded at around year 1000. The city is situated at the head of Oslo Fjord surrounded by forrests and ridges. Oslo is the seat of the Norwegian Government and Parliament, and the Royal Palace is situated at the end of Karl Johan Street.

Outdoor activities

The Norwegian lifestyle is to be active and especially when it comes to outdoor activities. Many Norwegians spend much of their sparetime and holidays hiking, biking, sailing, fishing, climbing, skiing and camping. Holiday in Norway

Norwegian people have holidays in the autumn, normally two weeks of vacation around Christmas, one week in february called vinterferie (which is most normaly spent skiing), a little more than one week at Easter (which is also most normaly spent skiing, or at a cabin), then there's a three or four week vacation in the summer. As you can see Norwegians spend alot of their time having holidays. This is probably the reason for the large number of activities that you may immerse yourself in.

Dance & Music

As in the States almost every school in Norway has a marching band. You can see them in the street at Norways National Day, the 17th of May. At this day the school children participates in a nationwide parade to celebrate Norways constitution. Because of the school bands alot of the kids are playing an instrument at an early age. Singing is also very popular in Norway, actually participation in a choir is the most popular activity in the country. Party

Everybody likes a good party, even Norwegians. Aktiv I Oslo has its own section on celebrations. You might need a musician, a limousine, a helicopter, maybe a clown, or another artist.
